Andy Warhol Glamorized Marilyn Monroe

January 30th, 2009 . by admin

Marilyn Monroe is viewed as the ultimate beauty of her time and quite possibly all modern times. Throughout the decades, images of her in posters and prints have superseded her personality and have vaulted Marilyn Monroe to the status of absolute icon, furthering her legend. The Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe Print is most responsible for this. In it, Warhol highlighted all of Marilyn’s most prominent features, particularly her lips, eyes, and hair, in very bright colors. This resulted in a purposely exaggerated image of the star that imprinted an exceedingly glamorized idea of her in the American subconscious. In fact, Marilyn was quite the natural beauty, and the most dramatic makeup she ever wore, at least in the earlier days, was red lipstick.
