Government and Politics in Calgary

Due to the increasing number of oil and Gas Corporation, Progressive Conservative Party has emerged led by Peter Lougheed. Together with Reform Party Canada, these two parties have conquered the city I the 1990’s. As time went on, several parties emerged like the Green Party of Canada which successfully gained higher votes in the 2004 election. Subsequently, Alberta Alliance came into the scene in the 26th Alberta general election and succeeded by the Wildrose Alliance which failed in the 2008 provincial election.
