It’s your job to repair bad credit

January 27th, 2008 . by admin

Your credit is one of those things that no one else is going to take care of for you. Maybe your mom used to clean your room, or your spouse makes you breakfast, how ever the information contained in your credit report is yours to keep a watchful eye over.

Not many of us realize that the information the credit bureaus collect about us can be requested, reviewed and even challenged if we feel it’s incorrect. This is the back bone of how to repair bad credit, and it’s a right given to all of us thanks to the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

When it comes to big purchases that require financing, or home purchases we need to have the healthy support of our credit history to help us get that loan. If for one reason or another there are blemishes on your report that could stop you from making the purchase you want, or at the very least increase the interest rate of the loan, costing you more money.

Being proactive about your credit score, and keep tabs on it each year is the best way to ensure you always have a healthy credit report. Of course checking it 100 times a year can’t make up for late payments, to much debt, or worse bankruptcy. But with some due diligence on your part, and debt management you’ll end up alright.
