Anonymous or Signed Dentist Reviews: Which Should You Trust?

September 6th, 2011 . by admin

If you are looking for a dentist, you have probably noticed that there are websites devoted purely to dentist reviews. If you have taken a little time to read through some of these reviews you may also have noticed that, while some reviewers are happy to attach their name to their review, other reviewers prefer to remain anonymous. Obviously the signed dentist reviews are the most trustworthy ones, right? Perhaps, but then again, perhaps not.

If someone is generally satisfied with their dentist, they may be happy to put their name to positive dentist reviews, but they may hesitate to express any concerns or negative opinions about their dentist as they may feel it would sour a reasonably good relationship. On the other hand, someone whose experience of a dentist has been so negative that they no longer care about maintaining that relationship may also be willing to sign their dentist reviews, which may turn out to be overwhelmingly negative ones. In both cases, such signed reviews may express a view of the dentist, the staff and the clinic itself which is very lacking in nuance.

Anonymous dentist reviews can also reflect an extremely positive or negative point of view, of course, and because their writers do not put their names to the reviews, they may seem less trustworthy. However, as long as they can remain anonymous, some satisfied patients may feel more comfortable about stating any areas where they feel the clinic has room for improvement. In this way, anonymous reviews may provide you with information that you may not find in signed reviews. Perhaps the best approach to take when reading dentist reviews, is to read as many reviews, both signed and unsigned, as you can find for the clinic you are interested in. This will give you a sufficiently broad overview of what people feel are the best and worst aspects of the clinic. You may find that the truth is to be found somewhere between the two extremes.
