Bleeding Gums During Pregnancy Is Normal
March 5th, 2008 . by adminAlmost 50% of pregnant women experience bleeding gums during their pregnancy. Swollen and soft gums that bleed every time that they brush or floss their teeth are the common complaints of pregnant women. The swollen gums are caused by high level of progesterone that makes the gums react more sensitively to the bacterial plaque and the increased blood flow. Untreated gum disease during pregnancy may develop into more serious dental problem such as gingivitis and also if left untreated will develop to periodontal disease that increases the risk of premature labor. Bleeding gums during pregnancy may prevented by maintaining proper and good dental hygiene (brushing and flossing) and by using dental products that are made from natural ingredients.
