In Layman’s Terms, Please !
August 31st, 2008 . by adminSimply speaking, this term is a means of asking whether or not we have an explanation for the condition of spinal stenosis from a body mechanics and development perspective. Do we understand how it happens within the body and why it happens ?
I can’t say for certain that we understand all of the reasons for spinal stenosis but we understand many of the reasons and we understand how it effects a patient’s mobility, flexibility, endurance and strength.
The pathophysiology of spinal stenosis is well documented in the available literature. Spinal stenosis effects both bone and surrounding soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. It can create a loss of height, localized pain, radiating pain; especially down a leg or legs and in severe cases, paraplegia and/or quadriplegia, temporary or permanent.
