Our own John Grimes is home on leave from the United States Navy where he has been stationed on one of their nuclear submarines. John has been away for the past 18 months on “secret missions”. Just can’t imagine all of the excitement for him. Well, perhaps I can .
You see, John has always loved the water and nurtured a fierce imagination by reading all of the books we had on under water transportation, spy novels and science fiction. As a community library we could hardly keep up with his thirsty mind. We quiet librarians live a very calm life for the most part, but this young man brought his energy right to our working space and blessed us with his inquisitive mind.
Before entering the Navy, John worked as an ultrasound technician for one of our regional medical facilities. He once told me that sonography has sorted out many a medical dilemma as well as “those to be found within any source of water”.
We wish John the best during his visit home and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him grace our library again. Welcome Home, John !
