How To Kill Mice And Rats With Rodent Traps

September 21st, 2011 . by admin

The presence of rodents such as mice and rats has been a fact of life for humans since the dawn of time. Thus there has always been great attention paid to the various methods that have proven effective to get rid of the problematic and disease carrying pests. Some of the oldest and still most viable means of removal are rodent traps.

There are several different designs for these products, and each has their own benefits and drawbacks. Depending on the extent of the problem and the wishes of the person dealing with the infestation, you can choose between either fatal or non-fatal traps.

The majority of these products will have fatal effects on the mice or rats that are trapped inside them, but there are many different kinds of rat traps and mouse traps, and are often more effective in truly eliminating an infestation. Their primary design feature is usually a spring loaded mechanism that can be baited with any number of attractive substances, once the bait it taken the spring will be activated and the trap will kill the rodent.

Once it has captured one individual it must be disposed of properly, although most products are designed to be reused a limitless number of times until the problem is brought under control.

If the pest problem is not widespread, or the person doing the eradication does not wish to kill the animal, there are also non-lethal alternatives available. Usually these take the form of a small cage, which again can be baited with any sort of food that the mice or rats would find irresistible.

Once they enter the cage the door through which they came in will shut, trapping the rodent inside. The entire assembly can then be taken far away from the house where the animal in question can be released back into the wild.
