Never hang your sweaters up — why?

Some materials, such as 100% cotton women’s sweaters, can be quite heavy when they are wet — and if you hang them up on a hanger, the weight can cause your sweater to be pulled out of shape. This will especially be true if you hang your sweater, when wet, on a thin metal hanger — like the ones you get from most dry cleaners. In addition, hanging your sweater on a metal hanger when wet can cause a reaction with the metal — it can rust and deposit an unsightly mark on your garments.
