When Did the Corbusier Chair Come to Life?

July 30th, 2008 . by admin

Le Corbusier was interested in the visual arts from a young age and spent time traveling around Europe. His experiences paved the way for his career later in life. Studying architecture, Le Corbusier went on to teach and design houses. He believed in modern architectural forms and this paved the way for his furniture designs. Le Corbusier defined three different furniture types in one of his books and eventually collaborated with another architect. From that, the Corbusier chair came to life in the 1920s. The original design was that of a chrome-plated, tubular, steel chair. An Italian company went on to acquire the rights to manufacture the Corbusier chair and other designs.
