Sleep Away Camp Gives Kids Stability

December 2nd, 2011 . by admin

For children who are able to take part in summer camps around the United States, many of those children speak of their experiences positively even though they are not with their families for a time during the experience.  For one particular family in New Jersey, the children say that they have a lot of fun learning and doing fun things at camp each year.  They have been going to camp for several years now and enjoyed all of the traditional activities that they get to do each year such as sitting around the fire and telling ghost stories.

For this particular family, life has been very difficult due to the loss of a job from the mother.  The amazing thing about the situation is that although the family is homeless, the children have adored going to sleep away camp every year so much that the mother was trying to find a way to send them again.  The children feel that the experience is so valuable and the mother believes that the children learn so much from being at camp that she did everything she could to try and find a way to send her kids again during the summer.

She was able to figure out how to send them by getting a scholarship for camp from a local group, which is something that she hadn’t heard of before.  Now that children will be able to go to camp and will have those great memories forever, those experiences will stand out as positive against the financial difficulties that have been wrought upon the family in such a difficult economic era.
