Most people will chalk it up to metabolism. Well, yes metabolism does play a role in how your body burns calories, but there are other factors at play here. Most people who are skinny general live a very different lifestyle then those who are overweight. The more hungry the body becomes the more you eat! Breakfast also, helps to jump start the metabolism first thing in the morning.
