The Stone of Alexandria: a Metaphysical Urban Fantasy
April 29th, 2008 . by adminThe Stone of Alexandria, by Lleu Christopher, is an oddly compelling novel that is part urban fantasy, part suspense and part metaphysical speculation about other worlds and reincarnation. It’s a complicted tale that takes place in Atlantis, ancient Alexandria and modern New York and L.A. So it’s not a typical urban fantasy, if there even is such a thing, but it does have elements common to that genre, such as a hero who falls into a magical world, faerie creatures, battling wizards and, of course a magical stone. It’s a hard novel to characterize, but the style is interesting and fast-paced and makes it all believable in a strange way. It also makes you think about time, parallel realities and other such far-out ideas.
