A pitching wedge and a chipping move is the most common way to get out of a sand trap during a golf game.

With the exception of a water trap, there is not much worse traps to land in while golfing than in a sand trap. Many a good player has had their game stalled out while they figure out how to get that darn ball out of the sand. The most commonly used move to get out of a sand trap is by golf chipping with a pitching wedge. This shot, if done correctly, will lob the ball right over the trap and (hopefully) right onto the green. If someone is really skilled, they might even get the ball in the hole in the same shot as well.
