The news is that both Serius satellite radio and XM satellite radio will join forces. How that will affect users, only time will be able to tell.  Apparently for now both companies will operate as separate entities but will offer options from bothe networks to customers who so desire.

Both Serius Satellite Radio and xp offer commercial free radio with digital quality but each have different programming. They offer sports, comedy, talk, music, and news channels.

Satellite radios work with satellites, repeaters and receivers like satellite television.  Satellite radio can offer 100s of different channels depending on what the user has signed up for.
